How Do I Dispose Of A Propane Tank From A Gas Grill?

I've gotten rid of my gas grill and I still have the tank left. I don't want to exchange it, I just want to get rid of it.

    Redbird has a death wish
Take it to your recycling centre

You can take it to places where they fill them up and give the shell to them.

Use an oxy-acetylene torch to cut it in half and the garbage man will pick it up with household trash.

call your county and ask. they have a disposal area for everything so ask them where to take it. Here it might cost you some money to dispose of it at their facility, but if you take along a receipt from a utility bill showing that you are a resident with land they will probably let you dispose of it for free.

Hazardous waste disposal centers will take old propane tanks. Look for one in your yellow pages. Also, some gas companies will also accept them, and dispose of them for you. Do not just throw it into a dumpster. These things are under pressure with residual gas inside and can be dangerous if thrown into an industrial incinerator from a disposal company.

Take it to a propane supplier – if it’s in decent condition they’d probably be willing to take it and add to their inventory.

Take it to your local recycling facility. They should have disposal for propane tanks, used oil and thing of that nature.

My family empties them and carefully removes the nozzles. Then they spray them out with soapy water and allow them to dry. You can take an empty and make your own creation by painting or mounting.Allow your creativity to flow- we make them into water towers for the yard.

I would guess that leaving it at the place you normally exchange it would work. Anyone you know that has one already would probably be happy to take it off of your hands. It’s good to have a spare.
