Is it possible to weld a golf club shaft in an open fire pit?

If it is, how can we do it? We've left it sitting in the pit in the fire for about 45 minutes and we need to know how to weld it. I don't know what type of metal it is or the make of the shaft.

    Find out what metal, find its melting point. You probably need to stoke the fire so it is hotter than it can self generate. Or, take it to the local machine shop and ask them to weld it.

    Why not buy yourself a new club?
    There is no way you can do anything else with your old one than using it as a fire place poker.
